GRIT Butchering Workshop

December 1 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The YWCA GRIT (Girls* Representing in Trades) program is excited to partner with the Missoula Urban Demonstration Project (aka MUD) to offer a 3-hour, hands-on butchering workshop for youth! The workshop is free and open to young women and non-binary and gender-diverse individuals aged 13-19.

During this workshop, MUD Tool Librarian and professional butcher Heather Graham will teach us tool safety and deer anatomy, and then guide participants through the process of quartering, de-boning, cleaning, and packaging. Participants will get hands-on experience with 2 deer taken at the end of this hunting season.

There is no registration fee for the workshop, but there are limited spots available and participants must sign up ahead of time. The deadline for registration is Sunday, November 25th.

Register online here. Email Sam at [email protected] with any questions or concerns!

*Interested participants who identify with girlhood or womanhood are welcome to join GRIT/GUTS! programs. This includes participants who are transgender or are outside the gender binary and feel that GRIT/GUTS! could be beneficial or enjoyable to them.
